# PrivateTake

> PrivateTake is a local-first private screen recorder and editor at https://privatetake.com/.

PrivateTake captures screen, microphone, system audio when supported, and webcam picture-in-picture in the browser. Video recordings are not uploaded to PrivateTake servers. Editing and export run locally on the user's device.

- Timed hide regions using blur, pixelation, or solid covers
- Editable timed captions generated locally with an on-device Whisper model
- Separate microphone and system-audio editor tracks with individual volume and mute controls
- Local audio import for music and other sound tracks
- Local WebM export
- Local MP4 conversion for eligible paid plans
- Text overlays and watermark controls by plan

## Privacy

PrivateTake stores account and billing information required to operate the service. Recorded video remains on the user's computer and is not stored by PrivateTake.
